Input variable is the same as which term?

Independent variable

The input variable is what you control to see how the outcome changes. In a function, that variable is the independent variable (often written as x in y = f(x)). You choose x and the function gives you y, so x is not determined by anything in the function—it drives the result. The term you observe as the result is the dependent (or output) variable.
